Job summary

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking an Environmental Services team member to maintain a clean, safe environment for patients and staff. You will lead a group of E.S.D. workers, follow chemical usage policies, operate service equipment, and coordinate with hospital staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years in Environmental Services required; team leadership preferred.
• Ability to read and understand instructions; basic math skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of E.S.D. workers to ensure daily activities are completed per protocols and standards.
• Follow policies and procedures related to chemical usage.
• Operate and maintain service-related equipment.
• Communicate with hospital staff, patients, families, and visitors in English.
• Respond to non-routine service calls.
• Provide relief coverage for ESD employees' absences.
• Orient new employees to areas and other hospital staff.
• Provide specialized services such as regulated medical waste packing and distribution of supplies.
• Use communication systems and assist with hospital emergencies.

Environmental Service positions are currently eligible for a Sign-on Bonus of $1,000*

Key Responsibilities:

Education:

High school diploma/GED required

Experience:

• 2 to 3 years of related experience with Environmental services is required and leading a team is preferred
• The ability to read and understand written instructions, add and subtract numbers, make comparisons between numbers and letters.
• The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
