Amazon is seeking a Data Migration and Release Lead to drive data migration, cutover, and release execution for a multi-year transformation of Amazon’s Finance ERP platform. This leader will work across Accounting, Finance, Product, Engineering, Solution Architecture, Internal Controls, SAP, and implementation partners to ensure financial data is accurately migrated and new capabilities are deployed in a controlled manner.
This role will translate the ERP transformation strategy into an executable data migration and release plan spanning data extraction, transformation, cleansing, mapping, validation, reconciliation, cutover, deployment, and stabilization. The Data Migration and Release Lead will establish governance, define milestones and quality criteria, manage risks and dependencies, and coordinate execution across business and technology teams.
The ideal candidate combines strong Finance ERP and accounting-data knowledge with experience delivering complex migration and release programs. They should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, identifying issues before they affect critical milestones, influencing stakeholders, and using data to drive decisions. This leader will be accountable for establishing repeatable mechanisms and ensuring migration and release activities satisfy Amazon’s controllership, financial reporting, security, and operational requirements.
The role requires knowledge of financial master and transactional data, including charts of accounts, legal entities, ledgers, balances, open items, journals, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and other relevant financial information. Experience with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle ERP, financial data migration, and large-scale enterprise releases is highly preferred.
You will work across Accounting and technology teams to plan and execute Finance ERP data migration and releases. Each day may include reviewing conversion results, resolving data-quality or reconciliation issues, coordinating dependencies, and assessing cutover readiness. You will partner with Accounting, Engineering, Testing, Controls, and implementation teams to drive decisions and maintain alignment. You will also monitor migration and release metrics, elevate material risks, and provide clear updates to program leaders. Your focus will be ensuring financial data is complete, accurate, controlled, and ready to support a successful deployment.
Accounting Transformation Group drives initiatives that modernize accounting processes, improve controllership, and enable scalable growth across Amazon. The team works at the intersection of accounting, finance, process design, and technology to build better mechanisms, improve financial operations, and support new business models with strong and efficient financial foundations.
