Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team in Cincinnati. You will manage rounds, assist with patient care, and educate clients on medications and home care while supporting the DVM in procedures.

Qualifications

• Veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Strong math skills for drug calculations and infusions.
• Flexible schedule and ability to work overtime when needed.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced ER.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing care.
• Provide client education on home care, medications and wellness.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house lab testing and prepare samples for outside labs.
