Job summary

Great Plains Health is seeking an ER Tech II to join our Emergency Department team in Nebraska. The role supports patient care delivery, triage, vital signs, and coordination with RNs and physicians to ensure timely treatment.

Qualified candidates will hold a current Nebraska EMT license, BLS certification, and CPI training completion. This on-site position emphasizes patient safety and collaborative care in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the team to deliver patient care in the Emergency Department.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions; communicates findings to RN/Physicians.
  • Assists with triage, vital signs, wound care, and specimen collection as directed.
  • Transports supplies and equipment; orients patients to treatment rooms and plan of care.
  • Assists in procedures, including splints and simple laceration care.
  • Uses Pyxis and other systems to manage medications and supplies.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Credentials: current EMT license in state of Nebraska
  • Required certification: BLS, completion of CPI training.

Work Environment

Patient care setting. Exposure to blood and body fluids, contagious diseases, hazardous chemicals, dangerous fumes, medical gasses and noise.

Physical Demands
  1. Stand and/or walk frequently.
  2. Sit frequently.
  3. Lift 50 pounds frequently.
  4. Carry 20 pounds frequently.
  5. Push and/or pull 40 pounds or more frequently.
  6. Step up one to two steps occasionally.
  7. Bend and stoop occasionally.
  8. Reach floor to overhead constantly.
  9. Visual acuity and color vision within normal limits.
  10. Manual dexterity and eye hand coordination within normal limits.
Essential Functions
  1. Works with all the members of the unit in a team approach in the delivery of patient care.
  2. Takes a systems approach to problem solving and process improvement, with an emphasis on patient safety.
  3. Awareness of patients' needs prioritizes needs of the patients and works to fulfill those needs, report's findings to the RN/ Physicians/Providers. Maintains awareness of change in patient census, prioritizes workload so that the most important tasks are completed first.
  4. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions required, acts as a liaison between primary care providers and emergency providers.
  5. Request and collect necessary supplies and equipment; transports to assigned areas.
  6. Orients patients to treatment rooms, call light, informing patient of plan of care, duration and time that they will be back.
  7. Properly cleans equipment and rooms in between patients.
  8. Assist Emergency providers and nurses with procedures including application of orthopedic splints, assist in simple laceration procedures.
  9. Performs direct patient care as assigned by an RN, including vital signs, assistance in triage, performs EKG's, point of care testing, wound care, obtains lab specimens and performs duties under licensures.
  10. Demonstrates proper use of software application, including proper use of Pyxis removal, wasting and discrepancies to carry out duties.
