Job summary

Barstow Community Hospital in Barstow, CA seeks an Emergency Department Technician to support nursing staff with clerical and clinical duties, including EKGs, catheter insertions for urine specimens, and patient transport. Candidate should have a High School Diploma, medical terminology knowledge, and basic computer skills.

Required BLS certification; prior acute care or ED experience is preferred. This is a full-time, on-site role with a wage range of $23.00–$27.00 per hour.

Description

Under the direction of the department supervisor, the emergency department technician is responsible for assisting the nursing personnel by performing clerical and related duties at the department level. These related duties include performing EKGs, insertion of straight catheter for the purposes of obtaining urine specimens, providing assistance to professional nursing staff, assisting in the transportation of patients, and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent; Medical Terminology; Computer Skills - all required.

EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in physicians' office, acute care, urgent care, or emergency department - preferred.

LICENSE/CERTS: BLS required.

WAGE RANGE: 23.00 - 27.00/HR
