Job summary

MercyOne Health System Des Moines is seeking an ER Tech / Patient Care Tech to support the Emergency Department. You will provide direct patient care, assist with phlebotomy, EKGs, and age-appropriate patient support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years healthcare experience preferred.
• Mandatory Reporter – Child/Dependent Adult Abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certified within 6 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Triage Nursing in meeting waiting area needs, vitals, and rooming patients.
• Completes daily stocking in assigned team.
• Assists RN with EMS patient arrivals.
• Transports patients to departments within the hospital.
• Cleans room and prepares for next patient.
• Rounding hourly on patients and communicating needs to the RN.
• Performs personal hygiene tasks for patients as needed.
• Collects and labels specimens (urine and venous blood).

BLS for Healthcare Providers

CPR/BLS Certification within 6 weeks
