Job summary

Tenet Healthcare in Modesto, CA seeks an Emergency Department Tech to perform basic care activities under RN/Charge Nurse supervision in a fast-paced ED.

Position requires EMT/Paramedic training or Nursing Assistant cert and at least 6 months in ED tech or similar role, with current BLS and preferably CA Phlebotomy certification; hospital EMT requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of EMT/Paramedic training or Nursing Assistant certification.
• At least 6 months of ED Tech or Nursing Assistant experience.
• Current BLS certification; EKG course within 6 months; CA Phlebotomy cert preferred.
• Must meet EMT certification requirements for the hospital.

Reporting to the Shift Manager of the assigned area, the Emergency Department Tech performs duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN)/Charge Nurse. Responsible for providing high quality individualized basic care activities within the ED Tech scope of practice.

Minimum Education:

Completion of EMT/Paramedic training or equivalent or Completion of Nursing Assistant certification

Minimum Experience/Skills:

6+ months experience as an Emergency Department Medical Tech or Nursing Assistant in an Emergency Department or equivalent.

License/Certificates/Credentials:

Required: Minimum of six months experience as an Emergency Department Medical Tech in an Emergency Department, EMT, or equivalent Current BLS certification; Basic EKG course within 6 months of hire Preferred; Current California Certificate of Phlebotomy. Employees hired/transferred into the position after January 1, 2005 must possess and maintain EMT certification; Behavioral management training as mandated by the hospital.
