Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Student Nurse Intern in the Emergency Department to gain hands-on clinical experience under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse in a fast-paced care setting. You will assist with patient care, document data, and support procedures while monitoring patient conditions and coordinating with the healthcare team.

Enrollment in an RN program is required, with High School diploma or GED. CPR/BLS certification within 90 days may be required; ACLS/PALS/NRP as per unit.

Qualifications

• Graduate of High School or GED preferred.
• Enrolled in an accredited RN program in good standing.
• CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days; ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required per unit.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient data and documents in the medical record.
• Assists RN/physician with procedures.
• Reviews orders and lab requests with patients.
• Documents care provided in the medical record.
• Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the RN.
• Maintains supplies, including stocking and ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
• Floats to various units based on identified need.
• Participates in department and unit performance improvement activities.
