Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN VA license or compact multistate license.
• ACLS within 6 months of start date.
• BLS within 30 days of start date.
• PALS within 6 months of start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 60 days of start date.
• 1 year of emergency room experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management and reassess after intervention.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider; document care in the medical record.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to deliver exceptional service.
• Educate patients, families and caregivers about condition, status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects; simplify complex medical terminology for understanding.
• Teach follow-up measures, such as healthy lifestyle changes and self-management preparation.

Education

Current RN VA license or compact multistate license
