Responsibilities

• Performs initial assessment of patient.
• Formulates a plan of care and nursing diagnosis based on the assessment.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for overall quality of patient care.
• Ensures patient care is given according to the proficiency level of personnel.
• Respects patient privacy rights and values of individual patients.
• Provides guidance to all personnel in their respective duties.
• Ensures cleaning, stocking, and quality control duties are accomplished.
• Ensures equipment needed to provide quality care is available.
• Performs ongoing nursing assessments and updates patient plan of care.
• Participates in ongoing evaluation of employees.
• Keeps supervisory staff apprised of special concerns.
• Complies with Corporate Policies and Procedures.
• Accurate documentation of care.
• Provides patient education and discharge planning.
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Assures emergency equipment and supplies are available.
• Safely administers medications with monitoring.
• Must be able to cross-train to other units.
• Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
• Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
• Participates in quality improvement activities.
