Earn $1,950–$2,060 weekly as a Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse in Springfield, IL. Join a fast-paced, 56-bed emergency department for a 13-week Illinois travel nursing assignment in a high-acuity, Level I trauma environment.
As an Emergency Department RN, you will care for a diverse patient population across the lifespan while collaborating with an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team. Springfield combines the energy of Illinois’ state capital with welcoming neighborhoods, historic sites, parks, museums, dining, and convenient access to outdoor recreation.

- End Date: January 18, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Department: Emergency Department
- Department Profile: 56-bed emergency department with an average daily census of approximately 175 patients
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend

Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand by submission
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Emergency Department RN experience
- Combined adult and pediatric emergency department experience required
- Cerner electronic health record and charting experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
- Strong triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response skills
- Experience starting IVs, performing phlebotomy, administering blood products and emergency medications, and managing IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
- Competency caring for patients with trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, psychiatric emergencies, overdose, sepsis, respiratory conditions, and cardiac emergencies
- Pediatric emergency care experience, including management of asthma, seizures, infections, head injuries, abdominal pain, and poison ingestion
Travel Emergency Room RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate emergency nursing care across the lifespan
- Perform rapid patient assessments, prioritize care, and manage emergency department triage
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, obtain 12-lead EKGs, and respond to changing patient conditions
- Initiate and maintain IV access, administer medications and blood products, and manage IV vasopressors and procedural sedation
- Assist with airway management, intubation, chest tube care, procedural sedation, splinting, and other emergency procedures
- Care for patients experiencing trauma, neurological emergencies, psychiatric crises, respiratory failure, cardiac events, sepsis, and multisystem dysfunction
- Provide age-appropriate care for pediatric and adult patients, including education and support for patients and families
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner while following isolation precautions, emergency protocols, and professional standards
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and other members of the healthcare team
