Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff by performing delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under RN supervision. The role requires completion of 12 college credits or a high school diploma with Nursing Assistant training, plus BLS certification.

The position is part-time with a 12-hour day/night rotation and a 36-hour pay period, with weekend and holiday rotation as described.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred.
• Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
• Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross the Basic Life Support, certification will be included as part of the orientation program.

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.
