Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tacoma, WA is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to support our busy ER, Neurology and Oncology departments. The role involves advanced nursing, anesthesia for MRI and surgery, and demanding triage in a high-volume hospital.

Ideal candidates are licensed, with experience in neurology, and a team player who can promote excellent patient care and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Licensed Veterinary Technician
• Experience in Veterinary Neurology Specialty preferred

Responsibilities

• Drive excellence in patient care by exercising a high level of nursing skill.
• Maintain a solid grasp of common veterinary medical terms and abbreviations.
• Induce and maintain anesthesia for Neurology patients during MRI scans and surgery.
• Utilize advanced technician skills such as placing urinary catheters, CRIs, placing NG tubes, blood transfusions, and hands free radiology.
• Obtain vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure, and collaborate with Veterinarian on abnormalities.
• Display a desire to provide outstanding service and exceed customer expectations.
• Perform and obtain diagnostics.
• Know commonly-used medications and associated side effects.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters.
• Show willingness to learn aspects of triage, outpatient, and inpatient care.
