Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Assistant for the Emergency Department. The role works in the evening shift under RN supervision, providing direct patient care and unit maintenance to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Responsibilities include data collection, reporting abnormal findings, assisting in care planning, and maintaining infection control and safety practices to support a positive patient outcome.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree preferred.
• Previous mental health related experience preferred.
• CPR and Basic Life Support required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Collects pertinent data and information related to patient health.
• Reports abnormal findings to the RN and patient care team.
• Participates in care planning and the nursing report process.
• Provides personal care to patients including bathing, feeding, grooming, and hygiene.
• Assists with eating, hydration, and mobility as needed.
• Documents all care in the patient record.
• Supports safety culture and hospital safety goals.
