Job summary

Mission Community Hospital in the San Fernando Valley seeks a full-time Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for the Emergency Department, Night Shift, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. The LVN will administer medications, perform treatments, assess patients, and provide patient education under supervision of a physician or RN.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing.
• Current California LVN license.
• Successful completion of a state-approved IV Therapy course and IV certification.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current MAB, PART, or CPI certification.
• NIHSS certification.
• Minimum of one year LVN experience, preferably in acute care.
• Knowledge of psychiatric medications and patient rights.

Responsibilities

• Assesses physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, functional, high-risk, and discharge needs with RN collaboration.
• Completes admission assessment components and communicates findings to the RN.
• Performs age-appropriate nursing reassessments and discharge teaching per policy.
• Identifies need for additional resources and notifies team members.
• Completes discharge assessments and provides patient instructions.
