Job summary

Advanced Veterinary Specialists, part of Ethos Veterinary Health, is seeking a Day Shift Emergency Veterinary Technician to provide hands‑on nursing care for emergency, ICU, and critically ill patients under supervision of DVMs and specialists.

The role requires strong clinical skills in triage, monitoring, medications, and anesthesia support, with opportunities to grow in emergency medicine and critical care. On‑site Santa Barbara location with competitive hourly rates and shift differentials.

Qualifications

• Two years of clinical veterinary hospital experience.
• Emergency/ICU/Specialty experience preferred.
• Strong nursing and technical skills in triage, venipuncture, IV placement, meds, and monitoring.
• California RVT license preferred; VACSP required within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to calculate drug dosages, CRIs, estimates, and invoices.

Responsibilities

• Triage, assess, stabilize, and monitor emergency and critically ill patients.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, and prescribed treatments.
• Assist veterinarians with diagnostics, procedures, anesthesia, and surgeries.
• Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and in‑house lab testing.
• Monitor vital signs and maintain electronic medical records.
• Provide wound care and post‑operative nursing for ICU patients.
• Communicate with pet owners about care and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with clinicians and support teams to deliver high‑quality care.
