Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA seeks an EMT to support the Emergency Department operations, assisting physicians and nurses to ensure safe, efficient patient care.

You will perform basic patient assessments, record vital signs, and communicate with patients and families under stress while helping with discharge instructions and follow-up planning. Certifications must be kept current and you will support department initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalency.
• Minimum of 6 months experience as a pre-hospital EMT, EMT in a hospital, or Paramedic.
• Internal candidates with EMT/Paramedic licenses may be considered without minimum experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required and maintain.
• EMT or Paramedic licensure required and maintain.
• Basic EKG certification preferred and training offered.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care in accordance with hospital standards and scope of practice.
• Record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration).
• Communicate with patients and families in stressful situations.
• Assist in providing discharge instructions and follow-up appointments.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are stocked and functioning.
• Assist in seeing patients promptly and support ED flow.
• Maintain awareness of policies, certifications, and departmental changes.
