Job summary

Nevada Regional Medical Center is seeking a frontline Registration Clerk to accurately capture patient demographics and insurance details, determine upfront payment requirements, and post payments. The role supports ER and maternity admissions and requires strong data entry accuracy and confidentiality.

The incumbent will interact with patients and families, verify identities, and coordinate with medical staff during transfers, thriving in a fast-paced environment with strict privacy standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience with registration/data entry preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and collect demographics into the registration system.
• Enter insurance information and review benefits for upfront payments.
• Post up-front payments from patients.
• Confirm pre-admission information and obtain signatures on consents.
• Verify patient identity and apply identification bands.
• Admit ER and maternity patients.
• Coordinate transfers with ER staff and ambulance/air transport.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle multiple tasks under pressure.

Pay: Base Wage starting at $15.66; increased based on experience

Essential Functions:

• Interviews patients and accurately enters patient demographics into the registration database.
• Accurately enters insurance information into the registration database and reviews benefit information to determine up-front payment requirements.
• Accurately posts up-front payments made by patients.
• Confirms pre-admission information.
• Obtains signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
• Verifies patient identity by checking identification, preparing and placing identification band on patients.
• Admits emergency room and maternity patients.
• Coordinates with the ER physician and staff with patient transfers by communicating with the ambulance and/or med flight staff.
• Highly organized and able to perform professionally under pressure.
• Able to multitask and is always aware of surroundings.
• Accurately ensures that orders have been obtained and are copied in the registration database.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.

Skills Abilities:

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.
• Ability to complete competency CPR and First Aid.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.
• Ability to prioritize and compete multiple tasks simultaneously.

Physical Demands:

Qualifications:

• High School graduate or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience.
• Previous experience with registration/data entry.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures.
