Qualifications

• 6+ years of equity research or related buy-side/sector strategy experience.
• Coverage experience in auto parts, technology hardware, diversified industrials, or industrial automation.
• Ability to build end-to-end financial models with baselines and sensitivities.
• Strong fundamentals orientation and ability to explain drivers and risks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or related.
• CFA/CPA or progress toward CFA/CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and own a coverage framework for diversified industrials, including robotics and other industrial/transport sectors, with a focus on listed companies and sector proxies
• Produce thematic sector reports and collaborate on cross-sector projects with partner teams
• Develop and maintain robust financial models (base and sensitivity cases) and clearly articulate the key value drivers and debate points
• Translate industry and supply-chain developments into investable theses, key indicators, and catalysts
• Handle day-to-day client requests with urgency and high quality, tailoring communication to client needs
• Communicate investment ideas persuasively to internal and external stakeholders through written research and verbal interaction
• Organize fact-finding trips, channel checks, and bespoke meetings with management teams and industry participants
• Proactively propose new research approaches and initiatives to build franchise relevance in a new sector vertical
• Apply strong risk awareness and operate in line with applicable legal, regulatory, and firm requirements

As a Vice President or Executive Director in the Equity Research team, you will originate and deliver differentiated research across the diversified industrials universe, including robotics and a broad range of sector themes. You will turn complex industry and supply-chain developments into clear, actionable investment insights for clients. You will help define the coverage universe and thematic framework, partner closely across sectors, and represent the franchise with senior clients and company management teams.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

• Minimum of 6 years of equity research experience (or directly relevant buy-side / sector strategy experience) with a track record of published insights and client engagement
• Demonstrated relevant coverage experience in at least one of: auto parts (electric vehicle supply chain), technology hardware, diversified industrials, or industrial automation
• Proven ability to build and maintain end-to-end financial models, including base and sensitivity cases, with clear command of key levers and assumptions
• Strong fundamentals orientation: ability to explain competitive landscape, risks, and industry drivers and connect them to market performance
• Ability to synthesize disparate inputs into a compelling, well-structured investment thesis and communicate it clearly and concisely
• Strong client service mindset with the ability to manage high-volume requests while maintaining quality and judgment
• Demonstrated capability to independently plan and execute channel checks, expert calls, and management access
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline
• Due recognition will be given to relevant professional qualifications attained from reputable training institutes or professional bodies

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

• Prior experience covering Hong Kong and/or China equities for sectors including but not limited to industrials, auto/auto parts, tech hardware, AI supply chain (or closely linked supply chains)
• Established relationships with relevant corporates, suppliers, and industry experts across automation, components, and industrial technology ecosystems
• Demonstrated ability to create thematic frameworks for early-stage or rapidly evolving sectors with limited pure-play comparables
• Strong confidence interacting with senior business clients and company management teams
• CFA/CPA or progress toward CFA/CPA
• Evidence of creativity in research approach, problem solving, and franchise-building mindset
