Job summary

Baird’s Equity Capital Markets group is seeking an Equity Research Analyst to join our Milwaukee headquarters. You will work with Senior Analysts to cover industry stocks and provide actionable research for institutional and individual clients.

You will collaborate with Sales & Trading teams, develop financial models, and build proprietary insights. A Finance/Accounting degree with a strong GPA and 0–3 years of experience are expected, with CFA encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with Finance/Accounting emphasis
• GPA 3.5/4.0 or higher preferred
• 0-3 years of experience in the industry
• Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
• Advanced computer skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• CFA designation encouraged for Analysts
• Must be willing to work in Milwaukee location

Responsibilities

• Partner with Senior Analysts to cover a focused group of 15+ stocks
• Provide quantitative support and assist in financial models and reports
• Collect data and develop sector expertise for client insights
• Develop proprietary research and communicate findings to clients
• Attend and participate in conferences sponsored by the company
• Support relationships with CEOs/CFOs of covered companies
• Discuss research findings with Sales & Trading teams and institutional clients

About The Role

The Equity Research Analyst plays an integral role in the research process through providing comprehensive industry and company coverage for both institutional and individual clients. Our Analysts have the opportunity to work with nationally recognized Senior Analysts in a department that has an international reputation for excellence.

The Impact You’ll Make

• Partnering closely with the Senior Analyst responsible for that sector, work within a focused industry team of 2-3 associates to cover group of 15+ stocks, including small-, mid- and large-cap companies
• Provide quantitative support for industry- and company-specific research and assist in the preparation of financial models, written reports, and field research
• Collect industry data and provide a level of expertise in a sector that helps clients to decide where to invest
• Develop proprietary research, write reports, and communicate and distribute to clients
• Attend and participate in company-sponsored conferences
• Assist in the development of relationships with the senior management team (CEOs, CFOs) of covered companies
• Discuss research findings with Sales & Trading associates and institutional clients (e.g., analysts and portfolio managers at top mutual funds and hedge funds)

What You’ll Bring To Baird

• Bachelor’s degree required with Finance/Accounting degree strongly preferred
• Candidates must have a proven academic record (GPA of 3.5/4.0 or greater preferred)
• 0-3 years of experience with a passion for our industry
• Ability to work within a team and on a self-directed basis
• Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
• Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Research Analysts are strongly encouraged to pursue the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
• Must be willing to work in Milwaukee location
