Job summary

Sierra College is seeking a Community Safety Officer to help protect students, staff, and campus visitors at the Rocklin campus and district locations. The role emphasizes trauma‑informed, equity‑minded safety practices and proactive incident response.

The position requires public contact experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work a Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:00pm shift with strong documentation and collaboration skills. Training and regional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Two years of general safety and/or security experience, preferably with public contact.
• High school diploma or GED required; degree in policing or related field preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly and document incidents effectively.
• Valid California Driver’s License and security-related certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Serve as ambassador for Community Safety; respond to incidents and access requests.
• Patrol campus by foot/vehicle; enforce safety policies and park regulations.
• Provide safety escorts; respond to emergencies as First Responder; basic first aid.
• Prepare reports, maintain logs, and input data into databases; support event safety.
