Job summary

Envision Education seeks an Education Specialist (Special Education) for the 2026-2027 School Year at Downtown Oakland Science Academy in Oakland, CA. The role includes a base salary with supplements for Special Education, MA degree, and leadership stipends.

The Education Specialist will lead IEP-driven instruction, coordinate service teams, train assistants, and partner with SPED leadership to support student success and equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required and valid California Teaching Credential or out-of-state equivalent with transfer.
• Commitment to equity and anti-racist/anti-BLACK leadership in the workplace.
• Experience working with families, especially Black, African American, Latine/a/o/x, and immigrant families.
• Residency in California after hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead case management for students with IEPs and align with Envision’s graduate profile and college readiness.
• Train and supervise assigned Instructional Assistants and coordinate service providers.
• Schedule service minutes to meet IEP requirements and collaborate with School Psychologist and SPED leadership.
• Develop and modify lesson plans, provide accommodations and modifications, and analyze data to improve instruction.
• Build relationships with families and facilitate IEP meetings.
