Job summary

Nomura in New York is seeking an Equity Derivatives/Structured Products Attorney to join the Legal department as a VP/ED. The role covers structuring, sale, negotiation, and documentation of sophisticated equity products, with emphasis on OTC derivatives, swaps, and related regulatory considerations.

You will advise on product launches, regulatory changes, and risk management, collaborating with Risk, Compliance, and business teams to ensure robust legal support in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with equity products, including OTC derivatives and swaps.
  • Familiarity with ISDA and other industry documentation.
  • Familiarity with corporate, securities, creditor, finance and bankruptcy laws and related issues.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills -- ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to work independently and respond proactively to business needs.
  • Strong team player.

  • Interpret, educate and assist with the implementation of regulatory changes that impact Equities businesses
  • Advise the Business, Risk, Compliance and others internally regarding legal and regulatory issues, developments and risks relating to Equities businesses
  • Assist with ongoing advocacy efforts relating to regulatory changes impacting Equities businesses

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise and assist in the creation, structuring, regulatory analysis and launch of new products and businesses
  • Interpret, educate and assist with the implementation of regulatory changes that impact Equities businesses
  • Advise the Business, Risk, Compliance and others internally regarding legal and regulatory issues, developments and risks relating to Equities businesses
  • Assist with ongoing advocacy efforts relating to regulatory changes impacting Equities businesses

* base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
