Job summary

Intertek in Plano, Texas is seeking an Entry Level Equipment Technician I to join our Electrical team. The role involves managing and tracking electrical and mechanical test equipment, with opportunities to grow in a fast-paced testing environment.

No prior experience required; training provided. The position includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, generous vacation and more. Shift is 1st shift, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • No experience required; training provided.
  • Ability to use basic shop equipment and hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Transfer and operate equipment as needed for tests.
  • Maintain and calibrate test equipment and facilities.
  • Track and document equipment calibration status.
  • Analyze basic test data and perform routine calculations.
  • Prepare equipment for travel and site usage.
  • Coordinate with vendors for quotes and service purchases.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

What are we looking for?

TheEquipment Technician I is responsible for managing and tracking of electrical and mechanical test equipment.

Shift/Schedule: 1st shift, M-F.

What you’ll do:
  • Transfer Equipment.
  • Operate equipment.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain equipment calibration status.
  • Perform basic analysis of test data and routine calculations.
  • Prepare equipment for travel (i.e. for travel in a vehicle or by air).
  • Research new equipment and vendors.
  • Work with existing vendors to obtain quotes and purchase services and products.
  • Perform other work as required.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • No experience is required - will train
  • Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple instructions
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional variables
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Strong communication skills, in both verbal and written formats
  • Microsoft Office software expertise, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record is required.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of related equipment experience
