Job description

Perform basic mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance services. Replace, repair, and over haul fuel systems on the City’s vehicles and equipment. Maintain City owned fuel sites; perform fuel pump repairs, keep daily, weekly, and monthly fuel reports. Assist with vehicle up-fitting and auction duties.

• Repair automobiles, trucks, heavy and specialized equipment requiring minor adjustments to ensure proper levels of performance;
• Perform a variety of repairs on chassis and suspensionsystems
• Diagnose and repair cooling, heating, and air conditioningsystems;
• Install, repair, replace, and overhaul fuel systems on City assets;
• Receive fuel deliveries, monitor fuel inventories, and dispense fuel when necessary;
• Diagnose and repair fuel pumps at the City’s fuel sites;
• Troubleshooting issues that arise with vehicles unable to get fuel;
• Respond to any fuel site issues that may occur during the workday as well as on call for fuel issues during nights, weekends, and holidays;
• Perform some vehicle up-fitting services as needed;
• Installation and removal of equipment and decals;
• Evaluate vehicles, equipment and other items designated for auction;
• Assist with removal of auction items;
• Perform related duties as required;

Completion of ahigh school diplomaor the equivalent with an additional two years of experience in automotive mechanics; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

Valid Driver's License

Additional Qulifications:

• Must have the ability to obtain a Class-B CDL License within six months.
• Must have the ability to obtain a UST A/B operator certification.
• Must be able to obtain an Airport Security Identification Badge.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently sit, stand, walk during the shift.
• Frequently climb stairs and inclined surfaces.
• Frequently bend and kneel during the shift.
• Continuously flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees.
• Occasionally move body in a crawling motion under vehicles for repairs.
• Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
