Job summary

Occidental Oil & Gas seeks an experienced Equipment Tech in the ORCM Reliability and Maintenance Group based in Carlsbad, NM. You will maintain high-speed compressor systems, perform preventive maintenance and support reliability programs.

The role requires 1–3 years in industrial maintenance with knowledge of pumps, compressors, VRUs, and basic electrical troubleshooting. Travel to facility areas and strong teamwork are essential; SAP and MS Office familiarity preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• 1–3 years industrial maintenance experience maintaining/repairing rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, VRUs).
• Experience maintaining high-speed compressors and engines 500–2500 HP (preferred).
• Knowledge of oil and gas surface equipment types and applications.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform root-cause analysis.
• Basic troubleshooting of automation and electrical equipment.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office (preferred).

• Maintain housekeeping and safety in assigned areas.
• Coordinate contract resources with supervisory approval.
• Cooperate with other groups to meet business goals.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Equipment Tech in our ORCM Reliability and Maintenance Group. The position will be based in New Mexico Delaware Basin (Carlsbad, NM Area).

Roles & Responsibilities -

This position is accountable, cooperatively with other line functions, to meet the goals of Occidental Oil & Gas in Safety, Environmental and Production. Contribution to meet these goals will be achieved by maintaining the workplace in a safe and reliable condition in addition to, but not limited to, the following:

• Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate, as our highest priority

• Provide technical expertise to identify ways to reduce costs, and improve process uptime and mechanical reliability
• Support compression surveillance to maximize uptime and throughput
• Support OPEX reduction and compression optimization initiatives
• Responsible for housekeeping and safety in assigned work and areas
• Upon Supervisory approval, coordinate the use of contract resources to accomplish the Teams mission
• Cooperate with other company groups to meet business goals

Qualifications -

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
• Must have valid driver's license with agood driving record
• Minimum of 1-3 years industrial maintenance experience in maintaining and repairing rotating equipment (i.e. Pumps, Compressors, VRUs)
• Experience in maintaining and repairing of high-speed compressors and engines in the horsepower range of 500 to 2500 HP (preferred)
• Thorough knowledge of oil and gas industry surface equipment types and applications
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and perform root cause failure analysis
• Capable of basic troubleshooting of automation and electrical equipment
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Good knowledge of SAP and Microsoft office software (preferred)

Safety and Physical Requirements -

• This role is occasionally subject to possible hazards (e.g.--chemical, extreme heat or cold, exposed heights)
• Ability to travel to all areas in the facility which may require climbing, ascending and descending stairs traveling long distances as required
• Lifting, carrying, stooping and reaching
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
• Ability to respond to audible and visual alarms
• Ability to communicate verbally and or in written form
