ND Sheets, a division of ND Paper, seeks a Shift Lead to oversee sheeter operations in our converting facility. You will load jumbo rolls, adjust parameters, perform knife changes, and manage spare parts inventory to ensure smooth production.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to safety and quality, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating converting machinery or similar equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret production work orders and machine settings.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one is a plus.
  • Independent decision making and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.
  • Lead and supervise employees to maintain all equipment for productivity and reliability.
  • Must be self-directed and self-motivated, with the ability to make decisions.
  • Operate fork truck, roll clamp truck, and other heavy equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for unloading, loading, warehousing as applicable.
  • Meet physical requirements of the position (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing long periods).
  • Maintain clear communication with internal mill customers.
  • Report unsafe conditions or equipment defects immediately.

Job Summary

ND Sheets is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shift Lead to oversee sheeter operations within our converting facility. This role is responsible for loading jumbo rolls, adjusting operational parameters, performing knife changes, conducting daily maintenance, and managing spare parts inventory to ensure smooth and efficient production. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.
  • Maintain a daily focus on the safety of self and others. Ensure that all safety training is accurate and up to date. Must have area safety team meetings. Intervene/coach when unsafe acts are observed.
  • Lead and supervise employees to maintain all equipment for productivity and reliability.
  • Must be self-directed and self-motivated, with the ability to make decisions.
  • Ability to operate a fork truck, roll clamp truck, and other heavy equipment as needed.
  • Responsible for the safe and accurate unloading, loading, warehousing,
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the position, which include, but not limited to lifting and pushing up to 50lbs, stooping and standing for long periods of time.
  • Must have good communication skills as they are a common interface with internal mill customers.
  • Must always demonstrate safe and clean work practices.
  • Report immediately any unsafe work conditions, defects in equipment or possible hazards as soon as they are noticed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience operating machinery or similar converting equipment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret production work orders and machine settings.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one is a plus.
  • Experience in an industrial setting.
  • Must possess independent decision making and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be willing to continuously learn and develop skills and knowledge of the operation.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse/manufacturing setting with noise and temperature variations.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to operate hand tools for maintenance tasks.
