Job summary

Doherty Staffing Solutions in Alexandria, MN is seeking an Equipment Operator / System Cleaner to support a recycling and solid waste facility. You will operate balers and heavy equipment, perform cleaning and basic maintenance, and help keep production running smoothly.

The role is full-time, temp-to-hire with a second shift, offering weekly pay and opportunities for long-term placement. Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds and work in outdoor, loud environments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous industrial, recycling, waste, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Forklift or equipment operation experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physical labor throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in loud, dusty, hot/cold, and outdoor environments.
• Ability to read and follow basic instructions, manifests, maps, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor balers to compact and bale recyclable materials.
• Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, and hook trucks.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain conveyors, balers, screens, magnets, and processing equipment.
• Remove debris, material buildup, and blockages to support efficient facility operations.
• Assist maintenance technicians with repairs, tool handling, and parts preparation.
• Perform general housekeeping in processing, maintenance, and storage areas.
• Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE guidelines.
