Job summary

Sabre Industries is seeking a forklift operator to move, stock and prepare materials for shipping at our Hicksville, OH location. You will operate a heavy forklift, verify shipments, and support yard logistics in a safety‑driven environment.

The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork and adherence to shipping procedures, with full-time schedules and competitive benefits. Strong English communication and a valid Level B certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 3–5 years operating a 10,000+ lb forklift or heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret Shipping Authorizations and Daily Ship Schedules.
• Must maintain Level B Equipment Operator Certification and related gear.
• Effective English communication with warehouse personnel, management and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Operate an all-terrain forklift to move, locate, relocate and stock materials per shipping procedures.
• Load and unload materials safely, verify item information and protect items from damage.
• Pull and prepare materials for shipments; use tools as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of yard bin locations and ship schedules.
• Contribute to team effort and uphold safety, productivity, and cleanliness standards.
• Cross-train to assist in shipping duties and perform additional tasks.

Scope of Responsibility

This position is responsible for operating an all-terrain forklift for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, and stocking materials in accordance to shipping procedures and customer requirements.

• Ensures quality of all shipping items by verifying and identifying information and quality/condition of items as well as taking steps necessary to protect items from damage while being loaded on trucks and in shipping containers.
• Loads and unloads material in a safe and organized manner at all times.
• Pulls and prepares materials for shipments as needed.
• Uses small hand tools such as pneumatic staple/nail gun, banding equipment, stencil machine, digital camera and radial arm saw as needed.
• Uses overhead crane as needed.
• Maintains a complete knowledge of all yard bin locations.
• Reviews and understands Shipping Schedules, Pick Queues and Bill of Materials.
• Contributes to a team effort by communicating and working well with others within and outside the department.
• Maintains a high level of productivity.
• Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in your area of operation.
• Cross trains to assist in any shipping duties as needed.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience
• 3 to 5 years of recent experience operating a 10,000+ pound capacity forklift or heavy equipment.
• Demonstrate accuracy of work, good organization skills as well as the ability to work as a team player.
• Effectively communicate, in English, with warehouse personnel, management and supervisors via two-way radio, email and in person.
• Ability to read and interpret Shipping Authorizations and Daily Ship Schedules.
• Must maintain a Level B Equipment Operator Certification and proficient using all large ma terial handling equipment to transport, bundle and stage material for shipment.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently exerting up to 30 pounds of force.
• Must be able to climb in to equipment, bend, kneel, sit, reach and grasp.
• Must be able to effectively use small hand tools such as pneumatic staple/nail gun, banding equipment, stencil machine, digital camera, and radial arm saw.
