Job summary

Trillium Construction in Amarillo, TX is seeking Equipment Operators for a large commercial project. The role offers 40+ hours per week, day shifts, with pay from $30 to $35 per hour plus $100 per diem for days worked.

The assignment is anticipated to last 6–8 months and involves excavation, trenching, backfill, grading, and material handling on site, with collaboration with electrical teams when needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Equipment Operator license
• Proper PPE: vest, steel toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, long pants, long sleeves

Responsibilities

• Excavation for underground electrical utilities including trenching for primary/secondary conduits and communication/data conduits
• Pad and equipment excavation for transformers, switchgear, vaults, generators
• Backfilling and compaction of trenches using Case 580 or Cat 310 and plate tampers
• Rough grading and setting elevations for pads and slabs with coordination with civil teams
• Material handling and staging of conduit bundles, vaults, and gravel or fill materials
• Assist electricians with trench work about 50% of the time

Trillium Construction is now seeking Equipment Operators in Amarillo, TX!

Immediate openings, will be working 40+ hours per week, day shifts. Pay range is $30-$35 based on experience plus $100 per diem per days worked.This is a large commercial project and will be 6-8 months of work.

1. Excavation for Underground Electrical Utilities

• Trenching for:
• Primary and secondary power conduits
• Site lighting conduit runs
• Communication/data (low voltage) conduit pathways
• Depths and widths vary based on code (e.g., NEC), site drawings, and utility requirements.

2. Pad and Equipment Excavation

• Digging and prepping pad locations for:
• Transformers
• Switchgear vaults
• Generators
• Pull boxes and handholes

3. Backfilling and Compaction

• Backfilling trenches after conduit installation using the Case 580 or Cat 310.
• Layered backfill and compaction using equipment or plate tampers as required by compaction specs.

4. Rough Grading

• Preparing ground for concrete pads or slab pour areas.
• Setting elevations as directed by grade stakes or GPS.
• Coordination with civil teams to avoid rework.

5. Material Handling

• Moving and staging:
• Conduit bundles
• Vaults or boxes
• Gravel or select fill materials

6. Electrical Help

• 50% of the time will be assisting Electricians with trench work.

-Operators must have a valid equipmentoperators license.
