Job summary

Cable Services Company in Minnesota is seeking a field crew member to load and unload equipment, place underground utilities, and inspect tools daily. You will locate utilities, bore paths, and connect conduits while following safety standards.

Travel to project sites is possible; you may work long days in varying weather, with at least 50 lb lifting capability. A CDL and drilling/excavator experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment securely and damage-free.
• Transport tools, materials, and equipment safely.
• Inspect equipment daily before starting work.
• Assist in placing underground utilities with crew.
• Operate equipment per company and industry standards.
• Locate utilities and verify them per blueprints.
• Identify utilities in construction area and bore path.
• Connect/stub-up conduit and wire as required.
• Dig pits, trenches, or potholes, including windows when crossing utilities.
• Restore and landscape disturbed areas at jobsite.
• Complete all required company documentation (timesheet, vehicle log, expense report).
• Adhere to safety policies and work safely.
• Perform other duties to help team complete project.

Job description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Load and unload equipment in a manner that is secure and damage-free
• Transport associated tools, materials, and/or equipment safely
• Complete a daily inspection of equipment prior to commencing work
• In conjunction with the crew, operate the equipment to assist in placing underground utilities
• Operate equipment in accordance with company and industry standards
• Responsible for locating existing underground utilities and verifying them according to blueprints
• Identify utilities in the construction area and bore path
• Connect/stub-up conduit and wire, as required
• Dig pits, trenches, or potholes as required, including windows when crossing utilities
• Restore and/or landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite
• Accurately complete all required company documentation for each assignment (i.e., timesheet, vehicle log, expense report)
• Adhere to all established company safety policies and perform work in a safe manner
• Perform other duties as assigned to help the team complete a project

Preferred Education and Experience

• One year of experience operating a directional bore drill
• Previous rock boring experience
• One year of Hydraulic Excavators, Skid Loader, and Dozer experience
• Class A CDL

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Must be willing and able to travel out of town with occasional overnight stays to assigned projects
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on an occasional basis
• Pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background screen
• Complete and pass a DOT Physical

This position typically requires balancing, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, grasping, reaching, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing, hearing, and talking.

Working Conditions

The employee will be exposed to varying weather conditions as they will be driving in all types of conditions.

Travel

This position may require travel, which could include traveling to projects in different cities and overnight stays.
