Job summary

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to support aggregate production. You will operate heavy machinery, perform field engineering, welding, fabrication, and major repairs, ensuring safety and efficiency alongside the plant operator.

Responsibilities include safety compliance per GOH/MSHA, pre/post shift inspections, and occasional travel to other locations. Candidates should be prepared for long hours, night shifts, and weekend work as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certificate or degree in heavy equipment operation preferred.
• Experience may qualify for operator levels 1–4 depending on relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy, material-moving construction equipment to move aggregate material safely and efficiently.
• Perform field engineering, welding, fabrication, and major repairs on plant equipment.
• Follow GOH/MSHA safety practices and procedures.
• Conduct pre and post shift plant and equipment inspections.
• Travel to other job locations as needed.
• Work more than 40 hours per week including night shifts, Saturdays and Sundays.
• Assist with maintenance and housekeeping in and around plant area and assist with daily preventative maintenance (greasing, screen changes, belt splicing, drive belts).

• Operate heavy, material-moving construction equipment to ensure safe, efficient and productive movement of aggregate material.
• Perform field engineering, welding, fabrication, major repairs and service of all plant equipment in conjunction with the plant operator to maintain high safety and production standards of aggregate production facility.
• Must follow proper GOH/MSHA safety practices and procedures.
• Conduct pre and post shift plant and equipment inspections.
• Perform as a team member.
• Utilize small hand and power tools, torches and welding equipment.
• Perform fabrication and field engineering requirements.
• Rebuild various crushers and screens including bearings, brass and wear parts.
• Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment.
• May be required to travel to other job locations.
• Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
• Assist with maintenance and housekeeping in and around plant area which consists of shoveling, hosing, general cleanup and operation of light equipment.
• Assist Plant Operator to maintain high safety and production standards and with daily preventative plant maintenance including plant greasing, screen changes, belt splicing, replacing drive belts.

• Moving plant machinery parts and the dangers they pose. Individual must possess skills in fabrication and plant maintenance.
• Extensive knowledge of MSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge to perform the essential functions.

Education

• Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certificate or degree in heavy equipment operation preferred.

Experience

• Applicants may be considered for equipment operator 1,2,3,or 4 depending on relevant experience.
