Performs minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated and assists in the repairs of this equipment; checks and adds fluids, checks/adjusts brakes, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc. Cleans and washes equipment. Operates vehicles and a variety of small and medium equipment that may include, but is not limited to; dump truck, front end loader, skid steer loader, grader, lift equipment, small bulldozer and asphalt repair truck while performing bridge and roadway maintenance.
Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments with minimal supervision.
Performs tree trimming, rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assists in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic). Assists with crew activity reports as needed.
Possess a valid Class B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with air brakes is required at the time of hire and one year of experience in the operation of heavy equipment.
This position requires a valid Class B driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:
