Job summary

Job Description

This is an intermittent, temporary position. The final candidate selected for this position will not be permitted to exceed 1,000 hours worked per fiscal year.

We are seeking a part-time temporary Equipment Operator 1 to join our team. This role will be responsible for operating ORRC equipment—including the Mobile Health Unit (RV), heavy duty pickup trucks, Mobile Cooling Trailers, Mobile Oxygen Trailers, and WhisperWatt Trailers—for transport to and from entities and scheduled events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive Mobile Health Unit (MHU) (35 foot RV) to entities for scheduled events.
  • Inspect property upon arrival/departure and review paperwork for accuracy.
  • Complete initial setup of MHU (set up chairs, tables).
  • Complete safety inspection walk-around (ensure bins closed, cords/hoses disconnected, awning stowed, stairs pulled up, lights working).
  • Educate entity in operation of MHU lift and answer questions or troubleshoot equipment used.
  • Assist entity in breakdown after event (put equipment away for travel).
  • Keep proper record keeping of MHU (driver log, signatures on delivery paperwork).
  • Coordinate general labor, maintenance and other related functions.
  • Fuel MHU prior to returning vehicle to ORRC.
  • Perform minor repairs (secure cabin blinds so MHU is drivable).
  • Coordinate emergency repairs with ORRC staff.
  • Report any safety or mechanical issues to ORRC staff.

This is an hourly position, with a pay range of 5 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. The ORRC Warehouse is located in Southeast Columbus, parking is free.

Unusual Working Conditions

May be required to work irregular hours including overnight travel. Works outside in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading & speaking common English vocabulary; AND 3 months training or 3 months experience in operation of motorized equipment (e.g., dump truck, pickup truck, wrecker snow plow, forklift, front-end loader, chainsaws); AND valid commercial driver's license.

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
