Job summary

Kokosing Construction is seeking Equipment Operators to run Excavators and Dozers for heavy civil construction projects in the Richmond, VA area. Prior experience is required; safety certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities include pre-shift checks, operating equipment safely, assisting with pipe/utility crews, and performing routine maintenance. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in loud, outdoor environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years related experience and/or training.
• Must pass practical test.
• Certified or approved by Safety Department or Competent person.

Responsibilities

• Check all fluids before starting engine.
• Operate excavators and dozers on heavy civil construction projects.
• Observe markings, signals, grades, and instructions from supervisor.
• Perform routine maintenance such as fueling, lubricating, and cleaning.
• Assist crews by performing other duties when operator work is not available.

With over $2.8 billion in annual sales and a commitment to its workforce, Kokosing is the winning team.Job Description:We have a need for Equipment Operators to run Excavators and Dozers for work heavy civil construction projects in the Richmond, VA area.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESChecks all fluids before starting engine.Works as needed on pipe/utility crews - work safely inside a trench box.Works as needed on heavy highway and bridge projects - moving or placing materials.Receives written or oral instructions from supervisor.Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.Observes and understands markings on ground, hand signals, or grade stakes.Operates equipment in safe and responsible manner.When Operator work is not available, works with and assists crews by performing other duties as requested.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEPrior experience in position required. Experience must be commensurate with requirements of Project - will vary depending on project. Minimum five years related experience and/or training.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertified or approved by Safety Department or Competent person.Must pass practical test.Expected base pay range for this positions is: $28.00/hr - $36.00/hrThis compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. When operating equipment, the Operator must be able to climb in and out of the piece of equipment safely. To climb onto the equipment the Operator uses both hands to grab hold of cab mounted hand grips and raises one foot up to 30 inches (from the ground) onto a step. Uses arm and leg power to lift his/her body up to the tread of the step. This process is repeated until the Operator reaches the cab. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The operation of the equipment requires the use of both hands and arms for steering and moving levers and legs to operate foot controls and pedals. These activities are repeated throughout the work day. When there is no operator work required, the employee may assist the crew and perform other duties with physical demands. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
