Job summary

The Town of Coeymans is seeking an Equipment Operator 2 to operate heavy equipment and plow trucks for snow removal, salting, and related tasks. The role requires a Class B CDL and at least one year of experience with heavy equipment.

Starting hourly wage is $28.40 with paid vacation and benefits including dental and vision; CSEA union eligibility applies. Applications can be found on the Town website or in person at Town Hall.

Qualifications

• Job duties include operation of large trucks with plows for snow clearing and salting, hauling of materials, maintenance of equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, graders and excavators per site plans or signals.
• Perform pre-operation and post-trip inspections of equipment.
• Ensure safety by following OSHA guidelines and reporting malfunctions to a foreman/supervisor.

Applicants must hold a Class B CDL License and have a minimum of one year experience operating moderately complex automotive and/or heavy equipment requiring a relatively high degree of skill and manipulative ability. Job duties will include Operation of large trucks with plows for snow clearing and salting, hauling of materials, maintenance of equipment, black topping and general labor.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate Machinery: Control heavy equipment such as bulldozers, backhoes, graders, and excavators using levers, pedals, and switches following site plans or hand signals.


• Inspect Equipment: Conduct pre-operation and post-trip walk-arounds to check fluid levels, tire pressure, belts, and safety components.


• Ensure Safety: Follow OSHA guidelines, monitor for underground/overhead hazards, and report malfunctions immediately to a foreman or supervisor.
