Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking an Equipment Operator to run frontend loaders, forklifts, bobcats and skid steers. You will perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections, grease and maintain equipment, and help load trucks and barges while keeping the yard orderly and safe.

Responsibilities include daily equipment upkeep, hazard awareness, and adherence to Sims safety rules. This role supports the company’s zero-harm initiative and environmental commitments, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Minimum 12 months related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Operates frontend loader with bucket, 12k forklift or smaller with rotator, bobcat and skid steer according to safety rules.
• Performs pre-shift and end-of-shift inspections and greases equipment; maintains work areas.
• Loads trucks, piles scrap material, and handles load/unload of barges and rail cars.
• Ends shift with cleanup and equipment inspection; keeps equipment clean to preserve quality.
• Contributes to a zero-harm safety culture and follows all safety regulations.

Job Summary

The EO operates equipment to include; frontend loader with bucket, 12k forklift or smaller with rotator, bobcat and skid steer. Operators are to follow all Sims safety regulations and golden rules. Operator will provide pre-shift and end of shift inspections and is responsible for greasing and daily upkeep of equipment and work areas.

Major Job Responsibilities/Duties

• Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning
• Completes inspection report prior to using equipment
• Safely operate machinery under the direction of the shift supervisor or production manager. Load trucks, pile scrap material, load/unload barges and rail cars
• End of shift clean up and equipment inspection
• Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
• Commit to the overall safety of the work environment
• Sweeps and shovels residual waste from process
• Other duties may be assigned

Job Qualifications

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Valid Driver's license
• Minimum of 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
