Job summary

SA Recycling in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment used to load and unload containers, rail cars, and trailers. The role involves lifting and moving scrap metal, working outdoors in varying weather, and adhering to safety standards.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of experience with hydraulic cranes and wheeled bucket loaders (preferred in scrap/construction), and bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience operating hydraulic crane and wheeled bucket loader preferred.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions.
• Willingness to learn new tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to load and unload scrap metal and debris for processing or shipping.
• Determine load weights and verify against lifting capacities to prevent overloads and dangerous situations.
• Identify and grade inbound scrap and reject unacceptable items.
• Drain and remove fluids and gasses from autos, refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.
• Direct truck drivers into proper position for loading and unloading of scrap metal or other materials.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report concerns, defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
• Comply with all applicable safety, health, and environmental rules and procedures.

An Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of heavy equipment used to load and unload containers, rail cars, and trailers. As well as lifting and moving scrap metal and other materials as needed.

This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Qualifications Of Equipment Operator

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• 1-year experience operating a hydraulic crane and wheeled bucket loader; operations in the scrap metal or construction industries preferred.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• Ability to carry out instructions provided in written or oral form.
• Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
