Job summary

United Rentals is seeking an Installation Technician I – Matting Solutions in New York, NY. You will manage daily operations of heavy equipment, perform safety checks, and coordinate with site personnel to ensure safe and efficient project progress.

This role requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and 0–1 year of relevant experience. Travel and overtime may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write fluently in English.
• Valid driver’s license.
• 0–1 year of experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment on large construction projects.
• Ability to operate equipment independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and inspection principles/techniques in construction.
• Ability to read and interpret Access and Construction Plans.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel out of town during the week or weekends; extensive overtime.

Responsibilities

As the Installation Technician I – Matting Solutions, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. You will be required to work in all weather and be prepared for both extreme heat and cold environments.

Formerly YAK ACCESS, Matting Solutions is now part of the United Rentals Team and is one of North America’s leading providers of right-of-way access solutions. From pipelines to power lines to civil projects, we offer unmatched expertise in total access planning, clearing, site work and restoration services.

What you’ll do:

• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, pre- and post-equipment inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies
• Participate in routine maintenance (such as greasing, etc.) and ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
• Effectively communicate to all site personnel and practice workplace safety
• Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
• Clear understanding of ground signals, and maintain constant eye contact with ground personnel
• Other duties as assigned
