Martin Marietta is seeking an Equipment Operator for Medford Quarry in New Windsor, Maryland. This role requires safely operating a range of heavy equipment, performing daily inspections, and maintaining site safety and traffic flow. The position offers a full-time schedule with outcomes driven by safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience operating mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or processing plant equipment.
• Experience operating off-road vehicles and heavy equipment preferred.
• Must be able to pass safety and pre-shift inspections.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of off-road vehicles and heavy equipment according to safety standards.
• Complete daily pre- and post-inspections of working areas and ensure proper berms/roadways.
• Conduct pre-shift safety inspections and report needed repairs to supervisor.
• Maintain safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance checks on tires, oil, fuel, hoses and moving parts.
• Maintain safe traffic flow on site and assist training of coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What to expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of off‑road vehicles and heavy equipment utilized in Mining. The equipment operator will be responsible for operating various pieces of equipment in the quarry, including the water truck, haul truck, dozers, loaders, and excavators.

Hours: 6 AM - 4 PM, weekends as necessary

A typical day for a(n) Equipment Operator may include:

• Operating a variety of off‑road vehicles and heavy equipment within the company guidelines and safety standards
• Completing daily pre and post inspection of working areas and ensures they are equipped with adequate berms and roadways
• Performing pre‑shift safety inspection on equipment and reports needed repairs to the supervisor
• Ensuring safe operations around conveyors, surge piles and crushers
• Performing daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function
• Maintaining safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Aiding in the training of co‑workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

You may be a good fit if you:

• Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Have experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment, construction equipment and/or equipment used processing plants
• Have experience in operation and maintenance of off‑road vehicles and heavy equipment (preferred)

The hiring range for this position is $25.40 - $26.60 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non‑discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position.
