Position Overview

The Equipment Operator will drive, maneuver, or control the heavy machinery during the construction process.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties & Functions)

1. Safely and efficiently operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, etc.
2. Operate machinery in accordance with OSHA safety standards.
3. Communicate with Foreperson as to the daily job specifications.
4. Perform daily maintenance and inspections of equipment/machinery; refer major problems to foreperson.
5. Perform all duties safely and in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures.
6. Follow directions of the foreperson as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project.
7. Clean the machines regularly (e.g., sweeping the cabs, removing trash, cleaning the interior, etc.).
8. Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations and servicing of equipment.
9. Various other duties as assigned.

1. Ability to communicate appropriately with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
2. Ability to follow directions.
3. Knowledgeable of materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.
4. Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
5. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
6. Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.

Education/Professional Experience

1. High School Diploma or equivalent education; and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Must possess valid licenses and certifications.
