Job Summary

This semi-skilled role involves operating light to moderately heavy motor vehicles, ensuring safety and efficiency, and performing manual tasks. Work is supervised by a skilled superior, with some oversight of unskilled labor.

Essential Job Functions

1. Operate trucks transporting construction materials and equipment.
2. Supervise a labor crew in brush removal and operate related machinery.
3. Operate front-end loaders and farm-type tractors for various tasks.
4. Inspect and report on vehicle conditions.
5. Load/unload materials, assist in trenching, and perform related duties.
6. Represent the City professionally and establish effective relationships.

Requirements

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED + 2 years of motor vehicle operation experience. Must possess a valid Florida CDL Class B license. Additional education or experience may substitute.

Preferred: Experience with hydraulic lifts, trailers, skid steers, and backhoes.

Licenses: Valid Florida CDL Class B, proof of insurance, background and driving record checks.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Knowledge of automotive operation and safety.
• Skill in operating automotive equipment in all weather.
• Ability to detect repairs, follow instructions, supervise, lift 50 lbs., and maintain professionalism.

Physical and Work Environment

Regular walking, sitting, and exertion up to 50 lbs. outdoors in all weather conditions, with accommodations available for disabilities.
