Job summary

Suburban Steel Supply Co. is seeking an Equipment Operator to run the processing line, load and unload material, and set up the work. You will ensure parts meet the print and cut list while maintaining a clean, orderly work area.

This role emphasizes reliability, safety, and teamwork in a fast-paced shop. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, careful, and able to read prints and tape measures accurately.

Qualifications

• Able to read a print and a tape measure accurately.
• Background in machine operation, fabrication, manufacturing or a skilled trade is helpful; training will be provided.
• Experience on this specific equipment is not required.
• Able to meet the physical demands of shop work, including standing, lifting and handling steel.

Responsibilities

• Run the processing line: load and unload material, set up the work, and keep the machine cutting.
• Check the finished pieces against the print and the cut list, and catch a problem before it moves downstream
• Keep the machine and the work area in good order, including routine cleaning and basic upkeep
• Work with the fabrication team so the right steel reaches the right bay at the right time

Suburban runs automated steel processing equipment that cuts, copes, drills and marks structural steel straight from the drawing. The Equipment Operator runs that line: setting up the work, keeping material moving through it, and checking that what comes off it matches the print. It is a good seat for somebody who likes machines, likes getting a clean part every time, and wants to build a skill rather than repeat a task.
