Job summary

Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction in El Paso, TX seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join a focused field crew. You will operate backhoes, dozers, excavators, graders, and more to prepare sites, grade terrain, and meet project specs.

Candidates must work in fast-paced environments, follow strict safety standards, and communicate clearly with crew. A valid driver’s license and overtime/weekend flexibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
• Willing to do laborer work.
• Ability to work as a Team Member and professional attitude.
• Motivated self-starter with multitasking ability.
• Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints.

Responsibilities

• Operate multiple types of heavy equipment (backhoe, dozer, excavator, loader, grader, scrapers) to prepare job sites.
• Use GPS and manual controls for precise grading and excavation.
• Handle attachments, hydraulics, trenching, loading, and material movement.
• Operate equipment for roadways, building pads, ponds, and demolition projects.
• Maintain equipment care and perform light maintenance; ensure safe operation.

Position Description

Operate multiple types of heavy equipment—backhoe, dozer, excavator, loader, motor grader, scrapers, and more to prepare job sites, grade terrain, and meet project specifications.

Key Highlights:

• Skilled in using GPS and manual controls to achieve precise grading and excavation
• Handle attachments, hydraulics, and perform trenching, loading, and material movement efficiently
• Operate equipment for roadways, building pads, ponds, and demolition projects
• Maintain equipment care, perform light maintenance, and ensure safe, damage-free operation
• Work in fast-paced, high-production environments with minimal supervision
• Support pipe crew operations and follow strict safety standards

Position Requirements

• Have a minimum of 3-7 years of Heavy Equipment Operating Experience with multiple types of equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Motivated self-starter and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment.
• Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing into equipment, lifting (up to 75lbs), twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, moving around hazardous sites.
• Good Eye to Hand coordination a must. Depth perception required.
• Flexible availability to include overtime and possible weekends.
• Valid Driver’s license
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly, listen and understand information through spoken works and sentences to ensure full comprehension of job duties, safety regulations, and other situations that may require an immediate response
