Job summary

Opitz Bürotechnik is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely operate multiple types of heavy construction equipment across outdoor sites. You will assist with excavation, grading, material placement, and structural work, coordinating with crew members to optimize workflow and meet project milestones.

The role requires 2–5 years of hands-on experience, fluency in English, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• 2–5 years of experience operating commercial or industrial construction equipment.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in industrial or commercial construction.
• Strong reading, writing and verbal communication skills in English; Spanish as an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate machine actions with crew using signals from workers.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or materials with trucks, tractors, or related equipment.
• Operate tractors or bulldozers to clear land and perform related tasks.
• Identify and avoid hazards; ensure health and safety standards are met at all times.
• Monitor equipment condition and notify supervisor when maintenance is required.

Job description

The Equipment Operator is responsible to safely operate one or several types of power construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, place or move materials and pour concrete.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.
• Operate tractors or bulldozers to perform such tasks as clearing land, mixing sludge, trimming backfills, or other related tasks.
• Avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects; ensure that health and safety standards are met at all times.
• Monitor condition of equipment and notify supervisor when repair and maintenance is required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
• 2-5 years of experience operating commercial or industrial construction equipment
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in industrial or commercial construction.
• Strong reading, written and verbal communication skills in English, verbal communication in Spanish considered an asset but not required
