Job summary

Ecowaste Solutions in Axis, AL is seeking an Equipment Operator to safely move waste and materials using forklifts and rolloff equipment. The role emphasizes safety, mechanical mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

You will perform pre-operation inspections, follow safety protocols, coordinate with site supervisors, maintain equipment, and keep accurate records. Training is provided; background check and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety guidelines and operational procedures.
  • Prior experience operating forklifts, rolloff equipment, or similar heavy equipment in a waste, industrial, or related environment preferred, but not required — full training is provided.
  • Forklift certification preferred, but not required.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and supervisors preferred.

Responsibilities

Our Equipment Operators play a key role in keeping our facilities running safely and efficiently, operating forklifts and rolloff equipment to move waste and materials from one area of the hauling facility to another. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically minded, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Physical Requirements and Work Environment



  • Regularly operates heavy equipment for extended periods, requiring prolonged sitting and repetitive use of hand and foot controls.

  • Frequently climbs into and out of equipment cabs and performs pre- and post-operation inspections that may require bending, kneeling, or reaching.

  • Occasionally lifts and carries equipment parts, tools, or materials up to 50 pounds.

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors at the hauling facility and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and moving equipment.

  • Must be able to maintain alertness and follow safety protocols throughout the duration of a shift.
