Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking an Equipment Mechanic (Service Tech III) to maintain and repair complex rental equipment in a safe, professional manner. You will sometimes travel to customer sites and contribute to the Service Department with teamwork and high-quality service.

Ownership of required tools and a strong mechanical background are essential. Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and 3–5 years of relevant repair experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and knowledge of engines.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; customer-focused.
• Must own tools applicable to the position.

Responsibilities

• Safely maintaining and repairing a variety of complex rental equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, diesel).
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain complete work orders and documentation daily.

As an Equipment Mechanic (Service Tech III), you'll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment in a safe and professional manner. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you'll do:

• Safe maintenance and repair of a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems
• Assist in the training of lower level technicians as needed
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• When required, travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of rental or customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
