Job summary

Cianbro is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic to join our Baltimore shop. The role focuses on hands‑on diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance of excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy machinery to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.

You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, write work orders, and collaborate with equipment operators to ensure OEM specifications and company safety standards are met in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience working on heavy equipment or similar industrial machinery.
• Experience with aerial lifts, telehandlers, loaders, bucket trucks, and cranes is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.
• Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-depth troubleshooting and diagnostics on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems to identify malfunctions.
• Repair or replace components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, cylinders, wiring, and other key systems.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, and software for precise assessments.
• Conduct inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and safety standards.
• Write your own work orders, order parts, and contact vendors as needed for parts/diagnostics. Complete expense reports and keep detailed daily time tickets for equipment repair recordkeeping.
• Work closely with equipment operators to understand performance issues and recommend solutions.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations while maintaining a clean and hazard‑free shop environment.

• Experience using diagnostic tools, software, and specialized equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair instructions.
• PC experience with Microsoft office products preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.

The compensation range for this position is $26-$34 and is exclusive of any other benefit and/or bonus. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued growth.
