Job summary

Baxter International Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a maintenance team in Round Lake, IL. You will oversee mechanics and technicians, manage shutdowns, and ensure adherence to GMP, SOPs, and safety standards.

Strong leadership and regulatory knowledge are essential. The role emphasizes collaboration across departments, effective resource management, and driving quality and uptime in manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • AAS degree in a scientific or engineering field; 5+ years industrial maintenance experience.
  • Proven leadership and ability to interface with multiple departments.
  • Strong prioritization and planning in a manufacturing setting.
  • Solid mechanical, electrical, and process troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance and CMMS systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety guidelines in medical/pharmaceutical industries.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead a maintenance team including mechanics and technicians.
  • Execute shutdowns and other projects as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with PMs, maintenance docs, training, quality, 6S, safety.
  • Foster a positive, equitable work environment aligned with Baxter values.
  • Support safety and quality commitments; make area-related decisions accordingly.
  • Direct resources efficiently to meet annual operating plans and budgets.
  • Provide and verify training on GMP, troubleshooting, maintenance skills, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs and FDA requirements as needed.
  • Support talent management, recognition, and disciplinary processes.
  • Prepare and distribute reports on attendance, labor, maintenance metrics, and safety.

What you'll be doing
  • Supervise and lead a maintenance team that will include mechanics and technicians to support operations.
  • Be responsible for execution of assigned shutdown and / or other projects.
  • Ensure compliance as it relates to PMs, maintenance documentation, training, quality, 6s, safety.
  • Provide a positive and equitable working environment emphasizing the Baxter Shared Values – Respect, Responsiveness and Results.
  • Support and Emphasize the Safety and Quality commitments of the department – make decisions concerning these commitments within the area.
  • Provide direction of resources in the most efficient and productive manner possible.
  • Identify/prioritize/provide resources on a shift to assist the superintendent to meet the annual operational plan and budgetary commitments.
  • Facilitate, verify, and even conduct appropriate training for employees in the area (including but not limited to GMP, troubleshooting, maintenance skills, and safety).
  • Ensure compliance with all GMP rules, specifications, SOPs, and FDA requirements as the need arises.
  • Commit to employee feedback and developmental process – support Talent Management goals, conduct recognition and disciplinary action for employees, facilitate employee representation throughout the organization.
  • Submit and/or maintain and distribute reports related to attendance, labor, maintenance metrics, safety, and others as needed.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles
  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
What you'll bring
  • AAS degree in a scientific or engineering field with a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated communication, administrative and strong technical leadership skills with ability to interface well with other departments and lead effectively and efficiently in a team environment. Proven professional writing skills.
  • Strong ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities in a manufacturing plant setting.
  • Good assessment and troubleshooting skills (mechanical, electrical, and process) with demonstrated and proven experience and background.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance systems to include preventive maintenance and CMMS.
  • Ability to understand regulatory and safety guidelines applicable to the medical / pharmaceutical industry and industry in general. Must have experience and knowledge with Lockout / Tagout and other Safety Programs.
  • Interact with all levels of personnel to analyze and tackle problems related to equipment but also with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and personnel issues.
  • Knowledge of WCM methods (Lean, Six Sigma, and QLP).
  • Ability to respond to detailed inquiries, and present information to groups and department management.
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $72,000 - $99,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
