Job summary

Microchip Technology has an opportunity for an Engineer II-Equipment (CMP Chemical Mechanical Planarization) at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. This role focuses on the operational health of specialized manufacturing tools while supporting the company’s core framework of safety, continuous improvement, and “Vital Few” business priorities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical engineering field.
2.5–5 years of equipment engineering for industrial automation.
Ability to read schematics and logic diagrams.
Hands-on aptitude with electrical and mechanical tools.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Self-motivated with a drive for continuous improvement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Maintenance execution: write, edit, and audit SOPs, manuals, and specifications for preventative and predictive maintenance.
Parts & Inventory optimization: manage spare and consumable parts programs using cost-conscious principles.
Advanced troubleshooting: diagnose equipment breakdowns and provide guidance to on-shift technicians for maximum uptime.
Quality systems integration: support process engineering in identifying systemic issues through SPC, PFMEA, and change control.
Cross-functional coordination: interface with Site Services, Safety, Production, and vendors to execute tool modifications, moves, or new installations.
